Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 209:69

Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 209:69

Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Muqaddami narrated to us, Abu Ma'shar narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Umar ibn Aban narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me, from Aban ibn Uthman, from Abdullah ibn Umar, who said: While the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting and Aisha was behind him, Abu Bakr asked for permission and entered. Then Umar asked for permission and entered. Then Ali asked for permission and entered. Then Sa'd ibn Malik asked for permission and entered. Then Uthman ibn Affan asked for permission and entered. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was speaking while his knee was uncovered. He pulled his garment over his knees and said to his wife, "Move back from me." They spoke for a while, then they left. Aisha said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, your companions entered upon you, yet you did not adjust your garment, nor did you move me away from you, until Uthman entered." He said, "O Aisha, should I not be shy of a man whom the angels are shy of? By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the angels are indeed shy of Uthman just as they are shy of Allah and His Messenger. If he had entered while you were close to me, he would not have raised his head nor spoken until he left."
