Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 48:1

Harun narrated to us, Muhammad bin Maslamah narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, from Salim Abu al-Nadr, from Ubayd Allah bin Abd Allah bin Utbah, who said: I went out with Uthman bin Hunayf to visit Abu Talhah during an illness he had. He said: So we entered upon him, and beneath him on his bed was a mat containing images of figures. He said: "Remove this from beneath me." Uthman said to him: "Did you not hear, O Abu Talhah, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say, when he forbade images, except for a pattern on a garment, or a garment containing a pattern?" He said: "Yes, but it is more pleasant for my soul that it not be placed beneath me."
