Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 140:48

Yazid al-Raqashi from Anas ibn Malik (RA)

يزيد الرقاشي عن أنس بن مالك

Hadith 140:48

Ahmad ibn Ishaq al-Basri narrated to us, Makki ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Musa ibn Ubaydah al-Rabadhi narrated to us, Yazid al-Raqashi informed me, Anas ibn Malik informed me, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he said: "There is no servant except that he has two gates in the heaven: a gate through which his deeds enter, and a gate through which his provision and his speech exit. When he dies, they miss him and weep over him." And he recited this verse: "And the heaven and the earth did not weep for them" (Ad-Dukhan: 29). He mentioned that they were not performing righteous deeds on the earth for which it would weep for them, and there did not ascend to the heaven from their speech or their deeds any good speech or righteous deed, so they (the gates) did not miss them, and thus they did not weep for them.
