Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 68:2

Shayban narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, al-Zubayr ibn Sa'id al-Hashimi narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Ali ibn Yazid ibn Rukanah, from his father, from his grandfather, that he divorced his wife irrevocably (*al-battah*) during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and informed him. He said, "What did you intend by that?" He said, "One." He said, "By Allah?" He said, "By Allah." He said, "It is according to what you intended."
