Musnad ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Awf al-Zuhri (RA)

Hadith 10:10

Abu Sa’id, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Bilal narrated to us, ‘Amr ibn Abi ‘Amr narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Wahid ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Awf, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Awf, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) went out and headed toward his garden. He entered it, faced the Qiblah, and fell down in prostration. He prolonged the prostration until I thought that Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) had taken his soul during it. I drew near to him, then I sat down. He raised his head and said: "Who is this?" I said: "‘Abd al-Rahman." He said: "What is the matter with you?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, you performed a prostration, and I feared that Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) had taken your soul during it." He said: "Indeed, Jibril (peace be upon him) came to me and brought me glad tidings. He said: 'Verily, Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) says: Whoever sends blessings upon you, I will send blessings upon him, and whoever sends peace upon you, I will send peace upon him.' So I prostrated to Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) in gratitude." *** Haytham ibn Kharijah narrated to us—Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman said: And I heard it myself from al-Haytham ibn Kharijah—Rashdin narrated to us, from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Walid, that he heard Abu Salamah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman narrating from his father: That he was with the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) on a journey. The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) went to relieve himself, and the time for prayer overtook them. They established the prayer, and ‘Abd al-Rahman stepped forward to lead them. The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) came and prayed one rak'ah with the people behind him. When he finished the prayer, he said: "You have done right," or: "You have done well."
