Musnad Ahmad 27:1102

'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Hisham—meaning Ibn Sa'd—narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, who said: I entered with Ibn 'Umar upon 'Abd Allah ibn Muti'. He said: "Welcome, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman. Place a cushion for him." He said: "I only came to you to tell you a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: 'Whoever withdraws a hand from obedience to Allah, he will come on the Day of Resurrection with no argument for himself. And whoever dies while separating from the community, he dies a death of ignorance (Jahiliyyah).'"
