Hadith 27:1116
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Tawbah al-‘Anbari, who said: Al-Sha‘bi said to me: "Have you seen the hadith of al-Hasan from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?" And I sat with Ibn ‘Umar for nearly two years or a year and a half, and I did not hear him narrate from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, other than this. He said: "Some of the companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, among whom was Sa‘d, went to eat some meat. A woman from among some of the wives of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, called out to them: 'It is the meat of a dabb (lizard).' So they refrained. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: 'Eat, or feed [others], for it is lawful'—and it is 'there is no harm in it' (Tawbah is the one who doubted regarding it)—'but it is not of my food.'"
