Musnad Ahmad 27:1134

Muhammad ibn Yazid al-Wasiti narrated to us, from Abd al-Hamid ibn Ja'far al-Ansari, from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "He used to place the stone of his ring on the side that faces the palm of his hand."
