Hadith 27:1168

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from al-Zuhri, Salim ibn 'Abdullah and Abu Bakr ibn Sulayman informed me, that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) prayed the 'Isha prayer one night at the end of his life. When he had finished the salutation, he stood up and said: "Do you see this night of yours? For at the head of one hundred years from it, no one who is upon the face of the earth will remain." Ibn 'Umar said: The people were confused regarding that statement of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) in what they were discussing of these hadiths about one hundred years. But the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) only meant: "No one who is upon the face of the earth today will remain," intending that that century would come to an end.

حدثنا عبد الرزاق، أخبرنا معمر، عن الزهري، أخبرني سالم بن عبد الله، وأبو بكر بن سليمان، أن عبد الله بن عمر قال: صلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ذات ليلة صلاة العشاء في آخر حياته، فلما سلم قام قال: " أرأيتم ليلتكم هذه، فإن على رأس مائة سنة منها لا يبقى ممن هو على ظهر الأرض أحد "، قال ابن عمر: فوهل الناس في مقالة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم تلك، فيما يتحدثون من هذه الأحاديث عن مائة سنة، وإنما قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يبقى اليوم ممن هو على ظهر الأرض " يريد أن ينخرم ذلك القرن
