Musnad Ahmad 27:1232

Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, Ishaq bin Sa'id narrated to us, from his father, who said: Ibn Umar entered upon Yahya bin Sa'id, and a boy of his sons was tying up a hen and shooting at it. He walked to the hen and untied it, then he came with it and the boy and said to Yahya: "Restrain this boy of yours from keeping this bird for killing, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbidding that an animal or anything else be kept for killing. If you intend to slaughter it, then slaughter it."
