Musnad Ahmad 27:1351

'Affan narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, Al-Minhal ibn 'Amr informed me, he said: I heard Sa'id ibn Jubayr say: I went out with Ibn 'Umar on one of the roads of Medina. He saw some youths who had set up a hen and were shooting at it, for every arrow that missed [the target, it hit the hen]. He said: "Who did this?" And he became angry. When they saw Ibn 'Umar, they dispersed. Then Ibn 'Umar said: From the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "Allah has cursed whoever mutilates an animal."
