Musnad Ahmad 27:1375

'Abd al-Wahhab ibn 'Ata narrated to us, Sa'id informed us, from Qatadah, from Safwan ibn Muhriz, who said: While Ibn 'Umar was circumambulating the House (the Ka'bah), a man approached him and said: "O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, how did you hear the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, speak regarding the private conversation (al-najwa)?" He said: "The believer will draw near to his Lord on the Day of Resurrection as if he were a lamb (badhaj), then He will place His shelter (kanaf) over him—meaning He will conceal him—and then He will say: 'Do you recognize [this sin]?' He will say: 'My Lord, I recognize it.' Then He will say: 'Do you recognize [this sin]?' He will say: 'My Lord, I recognize it.' Meaning, He will say: 'I concealed it for you in the world, and I forgive it for you today.' Then he will be given the record of his good deeds." "As for the disbelievers and the hypocrites, it will be proclaimed about them before the witnesses: 'These are the ones who lied against their Lord. Unquestionably, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers.'" [Hud: 18] Sa'id said: And Qatadah said: "No one will be disgraced on that day without their disgrace being hidden from none of the created beings."
