Musnad Ahmad 27:1429

Sulayman narrated to us, Isma'il informed us, Ibn Dinar informed me, from Ibn 'Umar, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent an expedition and appointed Usamah ibn Zayd as their commander. Some people criticized his command. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up and said: "If you criticize his command, you have indeed criticized the command of his father before him. By Allah, he was indeed worthy of command, and he was among the people most beloved to me. And this one is indeed among the people most beloved to me after him."
