Musnad Ahmad 27:1435

Ishaq ibn Isa narrated to us, Malik informed me, from Sa’id ibn Abi Sa’id, from Ubayd ibn Jurayj, who said: I said to Abdullah ibn Umar: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, I have seen you doing four things that I have not seen any of your companions doing." He said: "What are they, O Ibn Jurayj?" He said: "I saw you not touching any of the corners [of the Kaaba] except the two Yemeni ones; I saw you wearing Sabtiyya sandals; I saw you dyeing [your hair/beard] with yellow; and I saw you, when you were in Makkah, that the people would enter into the state of Ihram when they saw the crescent moon, but you would not enter into Ihram until the Day of Tarwiyah." Abdullah said: "As for the corners, I did not see the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, touch any except the two Yemeni ones." "As for the sandals, I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, wearing sandals that had no hair on them, and he would perform ablution while wearing them, and I love to wear them." "As for the yellow dye, I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, dyeing with it, and I love to dye with it." "As for the entering into Ihram, I did not see the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, enter into Ihram until his mount set off with him."
