Musnad Ahmad 27:1495

Aswad narrated to us, Aban narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Umar, that he was asked about the *nabidh* (fermented drink) of the *jar* (earthenware jar). He said: "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade it." He said: So I came to Ibn Abbas and said to him: I asked Abu Abd al-Rahman about the *nabidh* of the *jar*, and he said: "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade it." He said: "Abu Abd al-Rahman spoke the truth." He said: I said: "What is the *jar*?" He said: "Everything made of baked clay."
