'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Husayn—meaning al-Mu'allim—narrated to us, from Ibn Buraydah, Ibn 'Umar narrated to me, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say when he settled into his bed: "Praise be to Allah who sufficed me and sheltered me, and fed me and gave me to drink, and who favored me and bestowed upon me, and who gave me and gave abundantly. Praise be to Allah in every state. O Allah, Lord of everything, and Owner of everything, and God of everything, and to You belongs everything, I seek refuge in You from the Fire."
