Bishr ibn Shu'ayb ibn Abi Hamzah narrated to us, my father informed me, from al-Zuhri—then he mentioned a hadith—and Salim said: Abdullah ibn Umar said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while standing on the pulpit, saying: "Kill the snakes, and kill the one with two white stripes (dhu al-tufyatayn) and the short-tailed one (al-abtar), for they both take away the sight and cause the miscarriage of the fetus."
