Musnad 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA)

Hadith 27:1701

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, from Shurayh ibn Ubayd al-Hadrami, that he heard al-Zubayr ibn al-Walid narrating from Abdullah ibn Umar, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went on a military expedition or traveled, and night overtook him, he would say: "O earth, my Lord and your Lord is Allah. I seek refuge in Allah from your evil, and the evil of what is in you, and the evil of what is created in you, and the evil of what crawls upon you. I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of every lion and black snake, and viper, and scorpion, and from the evil of the inhabitant of the land, and from the evil of a father and what he begot."
