Musnad Ahmad 27:1707

'Ali ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to me, Salih ibn Kaysan informed me, that Isma'il ibn Muhammad informed him, that Nafi' informed him, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar, from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he said: "Envy is only [appropriate] for one who is envied—or as Allah willed him to say—regarding two traits: a man whom Allah the Exalted has given the Qur'an, so he stands [in prayer] with it during the hours of the night and the day, and a man whom Allah has given wealth, so he spends it."
