Musnad Ahmad 27:1708

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, Abdullah ibn Salim narrated to us, al-Ala’ ibn Utbah al-Himsi or al-Yahsubi narrated to me, from Umayr ibn Hani’ al-Ansi, who said: I heard Abdullah ibn Umar saying: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he mentioned the tribulations (fitan), and he spoke extensively about them until he mentioned the tribulation of the saddlecloths (al-ahlas). A speaker said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the tribulation of the saddlecloths?" He said: "It is a tribulation of flight and war. Then the tribulation of ease (al-sarra’), its smoke or its entry comes from beneath the feet of a man from my household; he claims he is from me, but he is not from me, for my allies are only the God-fearing. Then the people will reconcile upon a man like a hip upon a rib. Then the tribulation of the dark and dusty (al-duhayma’) will occur; it will not leave anyone from this nation without slapping him a slap. When it is said: 'It has ended,' it will continue. A man will wake up in it as a believer and go to sleep as a disbeliever, until the people divide into two camps: a camp of faith containing no hypocrisy, and a camp of hypocrisy containing no faith. When that happens, await the Dajjal from that day or the next."
