Musnad Ahmad 27:175

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from al-Minhal, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Umar, that he passed by some people who had set up a live hen and were shooting at it. He said: "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, cursed the one who mutilates animals."
