Hadith 27:1753
Yahya ibn Abi Bukayr narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Tawbah, who said: Al-Sha'bi said: I accompanied Ibn Umar for a year and a half, and I did not hear him narrate from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, except for one hadith. He said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when a dabb (lizard) was brought. The people began to eat, and a woman from his wives called out, 'It is a dabb.' The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: 'Eat, for it is lawful,' or 'Eat, for there is no harm.' He said: So he refrained. He said: Then he said: 'It is not forbidden, but it is not of my food.'"
