Musnad Ahmad 27:1771

I read to Abd al-Rahman: Malik, from Nafi’, from Abdullah ibn Umar, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered the Kaaba, along with Usama ibn Zayd, Bilal, and Uthman ibn Talha al-Hajabi. He closed it upon them and remained inside it. Abdullah said: I asked Bilal when he came out, "What did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) do?" He said: "He placed one pillar to his left, two pillars to his right, and three pillars behind him—and the House at that time was on six pillars—then he prayed, and between him and the wall was a distance of three cubits."
