Musnad Ahmad 27:1836

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, al-A‘mash narrated to us, from Mujahid, who said: ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Give permission to the women to [go to] the mosques at night.” A son of ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar said: “By Allah, we will prevent them, for they will take it as a pretext for their own needs.” He [‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar] said: “May Allah do such and such to you! I say: ‘The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,’ and you say: ‘We will not let them’?”
