Musnad Ahmad 27:1908

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Musa ibn 'Uqbah narrated to me, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab expelled the Jews and the Christians from the land of the Hijaz. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prevailed over Khaybar, he wanted to expel the Jews from it. The land, when he prevailed over it, belonged to Allah the Exalted, to His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and to the Muslims. He wanted to expel the Jews from it, so the Jews asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to let them remain in it, on the condition that they would perform its labor, and they would have half of the fruit. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to them: "We will let you remain in it on that condition for as long as we wish." So they remained in it, until 'Umar expelled them to Tayma and Ariha.
