Musnad Ahmad 27:1938

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Dinar informed me that he heard a man ask 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar: "May a man have intercourse with his wife before he performs the tawaf of al-Safa and al-Marwah?" He said: "As for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, he arrived and performed tawaf of the House, then he prayed two rak'ahs, then he performed tawaf between al-Safa and al-Marwah." Then he recited: {There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern} [Al-Ahzab: 21].
