Musnad Ahmad 27:1978

Hammad ibn Khalid narrated to us, from Abdullah, from Nafi’, from Ibn Umar: "That the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, designated the An-Naqi’ as a protected pasture for horses." Hammad said: So I said to him: "For his own horses?" He said: "No, for the horses of the Muslims."
