Musnad Ahmad 27:2000

Hammad narrated to us, Abdullah informed us, from Nafi’, from Ibn Umar, who said: The first charity that was in Islam was the charity of Umar. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "Retain its principal, and donate its fruit."
