Musnad Ahmad 27:254

Yahya narrated to us, from Sufyan, Abdullah ibn Dinar narrated to us, he said: I heard Abdullah ibn Umar [saying] that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) appointed Usamah as a commander over a people, and the people criticized his command. He said: "If you criticize his command, you have indeed criticized the command of his father before. And by Allah, he was indeed worthy of command, and he was indeed among the most beloved of people to me, and this son of his is indeed among the most beloved of people to me after him."
