Isma'il narrated to us, Ayyub narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, that Ibn 'Umar: "Used to pray the voluntary prayer upon his riding beast. Then, when he wanted to perform the Witr, he would descend, and perform the Witr upon the ground."
