Musnad Ahmad 27:56

Isma'il narrated to us, Ayyub informed us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar: "The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, performed the amputation [of the hand of a thief] for a shield whose price was three dirhams."
