Musnad Ahmad 27:569

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from al-Minhal ibn 'Amr, who said: I heard Sa'id ibn Jubayr say: I passed with Ibn 'Umar on one of the roads of Medina, and there were some youths who had set up a hen and were shooting at it, for every arrow that missed [the target, it would hit the hen]. He said: So he became angry and said: "Who did this?" He said: So they dispersed. Then Ibn 'Umar said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the one who mutilates an animal."
