Musnad 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA)
Hadith 27:625
He said: I found in my father’s book: Hajjaj narrated to us, Shu’bah narrated to us, from Thabit al-Bunani, who said: I asked Ibn Umar and said: "Is the *nabidh* (fermented drink) of the earthen jar forbidden?" He said: "They have claimed that." I said: "Who claimed that? The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?" He said: "They have claimed that." I said: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, did you hear it from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?" He said: "They have claimed that." He (Thabit) said: "Allah the Exalted diverted it from me that day, for one of them, if he were asked, 'Did you hear it from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?', would become angry and then intend [to strike] his companion."
