Musnad Ahmad 27:7

Hushaym narrated to us, Ibn ‘Awn narrated to us, from Nafi’, from Ibn ‘Umar, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If the person in the state of Ihram does not find sandals, let him wear leather socks (khuffayn), and let him cut them below the ankles."
