Musnad Ahmad 27:800

Waki’ narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, and Yazid said: Sufyan informed us, from ‘Abdullah ibn Dinar, from Ibn ‘Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took a ring of gold, so the people took rings of gold. Then he threw it away and said: "I will never wear it." Yazid said: So the people threw away their rings.
