Musnad Ahmad 27:859

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Malik, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarding what the *muhrim* (pilgrim in the state of ihram) wears of clothing. He said: "Do not wear shirts, nor turbans, nor hooded cloaks (*baranis*), nor trousers, nor leather socks (*khuffayn*), unless one does not find sandals, then let him cut them below the ankles. And do not wear of the garments anything that has been touched by *wars* (a yellow dye) or saffron."
