Musnad Ahmad 27:889

I read to Abd al-Rahman, [from] Malik, and Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, [from] Malik, from Sa’id ibn Abi Sa’id al-Maqburi, from Ubayd ibn Jurayj, that he said to Abdullah ibn Umar: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, I have seen you doing four things that I have not seen any of your companions doing." He said: "What are they, O Ibn Jurayj?" He said: "I have seen you not touching any of the corners [of the Kaaba] except the two Yemeni ones. I have seen you wearing Sabtiyya sandals. I have seen you dyeing [your hair/beard] with yellow. And I have seen you, when you are in Mecca, the people enter into Ihram when they see the crescent moon, but you do not enter into Ihram until the Day of Tarwiyah." Abdullah said: "As for the corners, I did not see the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, touch anything except the two Yemeni ones. As for the Sabtiyya sandals, I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, wearing sandals that had no hair on them, and he would perform ablution in them, so I love to wear them. As for the yellow dye, I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, dyeing with it, so I love to dye with it. As for entering into Ihram, I did not see the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, enter into Ihram until his she-camel would set off with him."
