Musnad Ahmad 27:987

Bahz and ‘Affan narrated to us, they said: Hammam narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us. ‘Affan said: From Safwan ibn Muhriz, he said: I was holding the hand of Ibn ‘Umar when a man approached him and said: How did you hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) speak regarding the private conversation (al-najwa) on the Day of Resurrection? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will bring the believer close, place His shelter over him, and screen him from the people. He will make him acknowledge his sins and say to him: 'Do you recognize such-and-such sin? Do you recognize such-and-such sin? Do you recognize such-and-such sin?' Until, when he has made him acknowledge his sins and he sees within himself that he is ruined, He will say: 'I indeed concealed them for you in the world, and I forgive them for you today.' Then he will be given his book of good deeds. As for the disbelievers and the hypocrites, the witnesses will say: 'These are the ones who lied against their Lord. Unquestionably, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers.'" [Hud: 18]
