'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Sufyan informed us, from Layth, from Tawus, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed Tamattu' until he died, and Abu Bakr until he died, and 'Umar and 'Uthman likewise." And the first to forbid it was Mu'awiyah.
