Abu Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, al-Mas'udi narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman, the freed slave of the family of Talhah, narrated to us, from Kurayb, from Ibn Abbas: "The name of Juwayriyah bint al-Harith, the wife of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was Barrah. So the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, changed her name and named her Juwayriyah."
