Musnad Ahmad 25:1064

Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 25:1064

Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, Shahr narrated to us, Abdullah ibn Abbas narrated to me, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, proposed to a woman from his people called Sawdah. She was a mother of children; she had five or six children from a husband of hers who had died. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to her, "What prevents you from me?" She said, "By Allah, O Prophet of Allah, nothing prevents me from you [in terms of] you not being the most beloved of creation to me, but I honor you too much to have these children wailing at your head morning and evening." He said, "Is there anything else preventing you from me besides that?" She said, "No, by Allah." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to her, "May Allah have mercy on you. Indeed, the best of women who ride the backs of camels are the righteous women of Quraysh; they are the most affectionate toward a child in his childhood, and the most watchful over a husband’s possessions."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
