Musnad Ahmad 25:1085

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, he said: Husayn ibn Abdullah ibn Ubaydullah ibn Abbas and Dawud ibn Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Abbas informed me—one of them adding more than the other—that a man called out to Ibn Abbas while the people were around him and said: "Is it a Sunnah that you seek with this nabidh (date-infused water)? Or is it lighter for you than milk and honey?" Ibn Abbas said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, came to Abbas and said: "Give us to drink." He said: "Indeed, this nabidh is a drink that has been soaked and stirred. Shall we not give you milk or honey to drink?" He said: "Give us to drink from what you give the people to drink." So the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was brought—along with his companions from the Muhajirun and the Ansar—two waterskins containing nabidh. When the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, drank, he hastened before he was fully quenched, then he raised his head and said: "You have done well; do it like this." Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, being pleased with that is more beloved to me than for its valleys to flow with milk and honey.
