Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)

مسند عبد الله بن العباس بن عبد المطلب (1) ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

Hadith 25:1172

'Affan narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is no *tiyarah* (evil omen), no *'adwa* (contagion), no *hamah* (owl/superstition), and no *safar* (superstition regarding the month of Safar)." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, we take a sheep with mange and put it among the sheep, and they get mange." He said: "Then who infected the first one?"

حدثنا عفان، حدثنا أبو عوانة، عن سماك، عن عكرمة، عن ابن عباس، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " لا طيرة ولا عدوى، ولا هامة ولا صفر "، قال: فقال رجل: يا رسول الله، إنا لنأخذ الشاة الجرباء، فنطرحها في الغنم، فتجرب قال: " فمن أعدى الأول "
