Musnad Ahmad 25:1199

Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, Shu’ayb narrated to us, he said: Al-Zuhri was asked, "Is ghusl (ritual bathing) obligatory for Friday?" He said: Salim ibn Abdullah ibn Umar narrated to me that he heard Abdullah ibn Umar saying: I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "Whoever among you comes to Friday [prayer], let him perform ghusl." And Tawus said: I said to Ibn Abbas, "They mentioned that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: 'Perform ghusl on the day of Friday, and wash your heads, even if you are not in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity), and apply perfume.'" Ibn Abbas said: "As for the ghusl, then yes; but as for the perfume, I do not know."
