'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, from Ma'mar, who said: Al-Zuhri said: 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Utbah informed me, from Ibn 'Abbas: That the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, went out in Ramadan from Medina with ten thousand of the Muslims, and that was at the completion of eight and a half years from his arrival in Medina. He traveled with those who were with him from the Muslims toward Mecca, he fasting and they fasting, until when he reached al-Kadid—which is between 'Usfan and Qudayd—he broke his fast and the Muslims with him broke their fast, and he did not fast.
