Hajjaj narrated to us, Shareek narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from al-Fudayl ibn ‘Amr, who said: I think he narrated it from Sa’id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: "The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, performed Tamattu’." ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubayr said: "Abu Bakr and ‘Umar forbade Tamattu’." Ibn ‘Abbas said: "What is ‘Urwah saying?" He said: "He says: Abu Bakr and ‘Umar forbade Tamattu’." Ibn ‘Abbas said: "I fear that they will be destroyed. I say: 'The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said,' and he says: 'Abu Bakr and ‘Umar forbade it'."
