Hadith 25:129

Abu Mu’awiyah narrated to us, Hajjaj narrated to us, from al-Hakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Abdullah ibn Rawahah in a military expedition, and that coincided with a Friday. He said: His companions departed, and he said: "I will stay behind and pray Jumu'ah with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then I will catch up with them." He said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had prayed, he saw him and said: "What prevented you from departing early with your companions?" He said: He replied: "I wanted to pray Jumu'ah with you, then catch up with them." He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If you were to spend what is in the earth, you would not attain [the merit of] their early departure."
