Musnad Ahmad 25:1302

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far and Hajjaj narrated to us, they said: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Sulayman and Mansur, from Dharr, from ‘Abdullah ibn Shaddad, from Ibn ‘Abbas, that they said: "O Messenger of Allah, we experience thoughts within ourselves; that one of us would be reduced to charcoal is more beloved to him than that he should speak of it." He said: One of them said: "Praise be to Allah who did not ordain anything for you except the whispering (waswasah)." And the other said: "Praise be to Allah who returned his affair to the whispering."
