Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)
Hadith 25:1448
Yazid narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhi’b informed us, from Shu’bah, who said: Al-Miswar ibn Makhramah entered upon Ibn Abbas to visit him during his illness, and he saw him wearing a garment of silk brocade (*istabraq*), and before him was a brazier upon which were figures. He said to him: "O Abu Abbas, what is this garment that is upon you?" He said: "And what is it?" He said: "Silk brocade." He said: "By Allah, I did not know of it, and I do not think the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, forbade it except for the sake of arrogance and pride, and we, by the praise of Allah, are not like that." He said: "Then what is this brazier upon which are the images?" Ibn Abbas said: "Do you not see how we have burned them with fire?"
