Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)

مسند عبد الله بن العباس بن عبد المطلب (1) ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

Hadith 25:147

Isma'il narrated to us, Hatim ibn Abi Saghir informed us, from Simak ibn Harb, from 'Ikrimah, who said: I heard Ibn 'Abbas saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Fast upon seeing it, and break your fast upon seeing it. If clouds obscure it from you, then complete the count to thirty, and do not anticipate the month by starting it early." Hatim said: Meaning the count of Sha'ban.

حدثنا إسماعيل، أخبرنا حاتم بن أبي صغيرة، عن سماك بن حرب، عن عكرمة، قال: سمعت ابن عباس، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " صوموا لرؤيته، وأفطروا لرؤيته، فإن حال بينكم وبينه سحاب فكملوا العدة ثلاثين، ولا تستقبلوا الشهر استقبالا " قال حاتم: يعني عدة شعبان
